Doing a little clean up in the studio today! I have so many paintings tucked away, here and there. I had worked for some time on this painting. I was not happy with the level of detail in the hair. So I finished it today! I'm completely happy with how the lights and darks in the hair add depth and texture now!
I continued working today on this painting. It did occur to me at some point that I was making unnecessary changes. Some paintings don't have a clear stopping point, the best thing to do is just stop. Gotta know when to quit!

A behind the scenes look at how to put on art made from nature!
Clothing such as this is not really intended to be comfortable. It certainly isn't the easiest to put on, either!
Over the course of two weeks, I've harvested sticks, leaves, vines and moss. The studio smells of mud and leaves. I've worked on the meticulous task of binding, tying, twisting, and ultimately gluing moss into place. Little bits of my building materials are scattered about!

The corset made of vines is tied into place as it takes on the desired shape. I've been collecting the prettiest leaves I can find. They are soaking in a glycerin solution for preservation. They will soak for several days. When they're done, they should still be pliable, and I'll use them to embellish my autumn themed garmen...
