This was a very challenging piece to make. I first learned about it from the "7 Easy Pieces" exhibition that Marina Abramovic put on. Originally conceived and performed by Valie Export in Munich in 1968. It's a complicated piece that resonates as powerfully today as ever before.

I tried this one (or variations of it) many times. The reflection and the light can be very difficult to get right. Add to that the unpredictable nature of matches. It's a challenging video to make and I'm glad that you appreciated it!

Off to a great start on my progress this week!
After giving my letters another fine and thorough sanding, I mixed the blue paint. Everything is drying and I should be able to start assembling all the various components soon!

Feels great to be getting some paint down! I think of the entire process of creating a painting, the first layer may be my favorite part. There's a freedom to how the paint is applied, and it really takes the process from concept to art.
