I got my 125 copies from Oloris Publishing last Tuesday - and nearly a heart attack. The printer had packed the books so that it was impossible for them to survive the trip from Canada. Of 125 books, only 8 (!) were undamaged. ...

Another upside of really good lighting reference: Rendering with paint becomes so much easier, and you just know where the lights and shadows go, because you arranged them to be there.

I suppose I'm a reference convert now. Look at those feathers! I mean, I can do feathers, but building that stuff yourself, angling it so it's exactly what you want, and then photograph it so see how the light hits - that's something you can't wing.

Rebecca made me go back to this one and get some *real* reference for the feathers. So I ordered white feathers from amazon and actually crafted part of a feather cloak (on foam rubber) and photographed it in the light I needed. It did absolute miracles for those feathers!
