Sofa sculpture

D Genevievre and her very fair skin have an ability to morph into an almost marble look when the light is right. Here’s it’s from my studio windows on an overcase day. I purposely dampened everything else to a very dark level to maintain the feeling of lightness in the skin.

Desert respite

After traveling for 10 days through the deserts of the southwest USA, I booked a suite at Palms Place in Las Vegas. This was quite a contrast to the small motels and tents we had stayed in previously. The next morning, Roarie was heading elsewhere, but we shot a couple of quick sets in the room with a magnificent view.

Bolero chain

I lit the ever-excellent Faith Starr Official with my 57” Zeppelin, used as an umbrella (indirect lamp) without a diffuser, turning it into a deep silver umbrella. There's also an extra silver reflector on the floor. 

Silver umbrellas work amazingly well for dark skin.

The lightest touch

One of the things I dislike the most in retouching is removing spots.

There's no way around it, yet it still feels like wasted time.

And censoring images, renaming them to an archive number set, and adding IPTC/Metadata to the credit model typically takes 4-5 minutes, which also feels unproductive to me...

Loulou’s rocks

We got this shot in about 40 min before the sun sets, and it’s pretty straightforward:

Bunker Dreams

Two very windy shots of Lilith Etch at Løkken beach just before sunset. The sun was playing hide-and-seek behind a low cloud cover, and the direction of light I usually aim for was hard to find.

Knowing it

Anneli was in the studio about a year ago (click on the tag to see more from this session). Daylight streamed in through my two studio windows.
From memory, I used one curtain to diffuse the softer light, while the coolness of the scene suggested that light from a blue sky played a significant role in the overall lighting...

This brand new set was shot with CB Modelling on my studio couch on one of those fantastic spring days when warm sunlight is streaming in through the window.
I drew my two layers of white linen curtains to diffuse the light, and because of the structure, I was blessed with some texture from the filtered sunlight.
