Needle binding is a really cozy thing to learn, and when you have quills, you'll never have to worry about loosing your needle.
(It is pretty much an Early Medieval/Viking age/Bronze Age/Heck, even stone age form knitting. Knitting is relatively modern.)

The Naronian Levies, for a long time influenced by eastern Eereforian Archers, carry what's called an "Acorn Cap". It's a light, hardened helmet, made from a single raised sheet of steel. When adorned with a circlet of colored cloth that signals the colors of the regiment, it resembles an acorn.

The Shieb Mountains, Keira's home turf, has many hidden lakes and ponds, making it a strangely serene and beautiful landscape. The natural waterslides, running from the mountain springs, often provide the sparce local population with much fun and relaxation.
