I'm finally back from the long long long period of being away from home. 

I put a lot of time into this piece, but I don't like what it is or where it's going so this is as far as she's going to go. I'll try again tomorrow.

Tutorial - cel shading basics

Not the most advanced tutorial out there, but there's some tips here I think are important for the basics of cel shading.

With this I'm off to vegas for another convention. Immediately after that I'll be visiting family, so unfortunately I won't be around to post for a few weeks.

I wanted to have these done in wood today, but sadly spent all the time wrestling with the details. For a cnc machine, all negative space has a minimum diameter of the size of the bit, which makes designing for it a new experience. 

Fluffy woodcarving

There's only so much time in the day and from dusk till dawn the router routed. The rough cut is done, but the finer details need another pass.

Given how the wood is reacting I can't expect a good finish for the final product, but we'll see what happens.

If everything goes right... IF, then this is what I'll be carving tomorrow. It's not detailed at all, sadly, but I'll have a picture for you tomorrow, whether or not the product comes out 100%
